Four poems on worms.

1) Grasping and sputtering
we recite the words captured
on limbs of dead trees

2) Illiterate, we
miss the burrowing of worms
in driftwood bark.

3) A worm’s diet
consists of only
life and death.

4) A Ship-worm achieves
clarity of emptiness
‘tween bites and swallows.
